Dr. Jessica Reale Featured in First For Women Article on Pelvic Floor Overactivity/Hypertonicity
Public education on pelvic health problems and pelvic floor dysfunction is a huge priority of ours, and we strive to stay active in the community and spread awareness where we can! We were thrilled to be featured in First For Women in their recent article, "Pelvic Pain and Bladder Leaks Can Signal a Hypertonic Pelvic Floor — And Kegels Can Make Things Worse"
If you've been a patient with us, you know we're big proponents of really evaluating the pelvic floor muscles to get to the root of the problem someone is experiencing. So often, people assume their challenges are "weakness" related, when really, there could be something else going on all-together. And the reality is that many times, the pelvic floor muscles actually present with more overactivity and tension rather than just weakness.
I hope you enjoy this article! If pelvic floor tension has been a challenge for you-- you're not alone! It really can take some time to get these muscles functioning more optimally! So hang in there friend-- and if you haven't seen us in a while, and these muscles are still bugging you-- give us a call! We're happy to take a fresh look and get you restarted on a solid plan!
