Our Approach to Care

Pelvic Health Physical Therapy Specialists
Our Doctors of Physical Therapy have not only undergone several hundred hours combined of specialty pelvic health training, but also, have directly trained thousands of other physical therapists across the country. Every patient is unique, and we aim to build an individualized program–not only addressing the pelvic floor, but also utilizing a full-body, multifaceted approach.

Conditions We Specialize In Treating

  • Pelvic & Abdominal Pain

We help people dealing with pelvic pain, including pain in the abdomen, low back, SI joints, pubic bone, tailbone and genitals. Pelvic pain can be linked to other diagnoses like endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, or prostatitis, or may happen without a known association.

  • Sexual Pain & Dysfunction

We help people dealing with challenges like painful sex and alterations in sexual arousal and satisfaction. Nearly 20% of individuals experience pain related to sex, and addressing pelvic floor muscle function can be an important piece in resolving this and other difficulties.

  • Bladder Dysfunction

We help people dealing with problems like bladder leakage, voiding dysfunction, and pain related to urination. The pelvic floor muscles are important for bladder support and continence. Weak, overactive and/or uncoordinated pelvic floor muscles can often be factors in bladder difficulties.

  • Bowel Dysfunction

We help people experiencing constipation, difficulty emptying stool, difficulty holding back stool and bowel leakage. The pelvic floor muscles are important for bowel control and healthy bowel movements. Pelvic floor dysfunction can often lead to changes in bowel function.

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse

We help people experiencing pelvic organ prolapse optimize their pelvic floor function, improve their symptoms, and reduce problems from worsening in the future. As pelvic organ prolapse involves a loss of support of the pelvic organs, the pelvic floor muscles are frequently involved in these challenge.

  • Prenatal Care & Birth Preparation

We treat pregnant individuals experiencing pelvic girdle pain, low back and SI pain, pubic joint pain, and other common difficulties. While these problems happen frequently, they are often very easily treatable. We also help people build healthy exercise patterns during pregnancy, optimize their pelvic floor function, and learn strategies to prepare for birth.

  • Postpartum Recovery

We help people heal and recover after birth– whether birth is vaginal or Cesarean, and whether it was 4 weeks ago, 4 months ago, or 24 years ago. Challenges like painful scars, bladder or bowel difficulties, and diastasis rectus abdominis can occur after birth. A custom treatment program can optimize abdominal and pelvic health and prevent problems in the future.

  • Pediatric & Adolescent Care

Children can often deal with problems like constipation, abdominal pain, bedwetting, and bladder accidents.
Our team’s expert care can not only improve their function, but prevent the impact of these challenges on their self-esteem and confidence.

  • Transgender and Nonbinary Pelvic Health

We help transgender and nonbinary individuals optimize their pelvic floor muscles as well as their bowel, bladder and sexual health. Some individuals may undergo gender-affirmation procedures or utilize practices like binding, tucking and packing which can impact musculoskeletal function and pelvic floor function. Individualized treatment can optimize health and improve function.
